A few months ago, I added the occasional run on the treadmill to the fitness/weight loss routine. And it sucked.
I HATE running. Hate hate hate HATE it. Like there’s a scene in the Showtime series Weeds in which Kevin Nealon’s character has… an encounter with a desk drawer (NSFW), and I’m not quite sure I wouldn’t be inclined to choose that over an hour of...
I’ve been a lazy little monkey lately. Not in the walking sense… no, I’ve yet to miss the 10k steps mark on any given day. I’ve fallen behind on these little status reports, though. Time to play a little catch-up.
Posting all the various weekly reports below. Hit a couple rough patches in there that made it a little difficult to stay on track (was sick for a bit around Valentine’s Day, took a business trip to Texas...
For once in my life, I’m going to be brief. The Mrs. and I both love our Android phones and have been rocking the T-Mobile G2 for months. Despite what conventional wisdom (and Apple marketing) would lead you to believe, the things are powerful, fast, and, most importantly, extremely easy to use. Just like their Cupertino counterparts, they come out of the box with a healthy number of useful apps, but their real power...Continue Reading →
A very quick update post this week. Lots and lots of meatspace things to do right about now.
Bottom line: walking up, running up, weight… up. Stats below.
Not too surprised about the weight thing. This last week, we had someone from a remote office visiting town (which always leads to meals out on the town), my quarterly MBA residency (two days of being crammed full o’ knowledge and free food), and, of course, the Super Bowl. Add...Continue Reading →
One thing that really sucks about being an Android guy is the lack of accessories. It’s easy for a manufacturer to develop products for the iPhone; there’s only one piece of hardware you have to worry about. With eleventy-million different Android devices, each with different dimensions, buttons, port locations, etc., there’s simply not enough of a market for accessories for any given phone. Why spend your time and effort designing a case for a device with a...Continue Reading →
Good lord. I’m kicking so much ass my feet are getting sore. Where to begin…
Rocking the steps, as usual. Above 10,000 steps every day of Week 5, averaged just under 11,000. In January, I took 338,871 steps. According to my pedometer, that’s about 154.98 miles, far enough for me to walk from my house in Vancouver to just north of Seattle: I dropped 13.6 pounds during the month (from 206.7 to 193.1), roughly 6.8% of...Continue Reading →I was right.
I mean, at this point, that fact shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, but I still like to say it.
I was right. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Looks like I was right to make that slight update to how I was calculated calories using MyFitnessPal.com. Like I mentioned last week, I used to simply consider myself as having a “sedentary”...Continue Reading →
I hate running. Hate hate hate hate hate it. Hate it with the same fiery passion I usually reserve for pedophiles, mustard, and the people responsible for keeping She Who Shall Not Be Named in the spotlight.
But…
But I’ve started doing it anyway, adding a little bit of jogging time on the treadmill into the routine. Seems the 10k Steps a Day thing is a gateway exercise to other forms...Continue Reading →
